Baby Basics Northampton

Baby Basics Northampton is a volunteer-led charity dedicated to supporting new parents and newborns in vulnerable situations. The charity provides moses baskets filled with essential items to mothers and families who are struggling to cope with the financial and practical challenges of caring for a new baby.

Working with midwives, health visitors and other professional groups to provide support directly where it is most needed, Baby Basics Northampton volunteers lovingly collect, sort and package up moses baskets of clothing, toiletries and essential baby equipment.

We rely on donations of pre-loved, good condition baby items including clothes up to 3 months in age, towels, bedding, new and unopened toiletries such as breast pads, toothbrushes, shampoo and nappies etc.

About Us

Baby Basics Northampton was set up in 2013 and has since supported more than 3,000 families. We support new parents who are struggling due to a variety of reasons including financial hardship, housing issues, isolation, refugee status and domestic violence situations. We do not want any parent or newborn baby to be put at risk due to personal circumstances. We act as a safety net for those families.

Donating secondhand items

Baby Basics Northampton could not send out the starter packs without the support of the local community. Many of the items we put into our starter packs are pre-loved items passed on from families whose babies have outgrown them. We accept second-hand baby clothing, coats, snowsuits, blankets and soft toys in used but great condition. If you are in a position to be able to donate to our charity, please see our full list of accepted items here: Accepted Donations | Baby Basics

Agile

Donating equipment

While we do not accept large equipment or furniture at Baby Basics Northampton, we do take several pieces of equipment for our starter packs. Moses baskets, baby baths, microwave and cold water sterilisers are among the items we can accept. If you are in a position to be able to donate to our charity, please see our full list of accepted items here: Accepted Donations | Baby Basics

Bold

Donating new items

Many of the items that go into our starter packs must, for sanitary reasons, be brand new. Toiletries for baby, toiletries for mum, nappies, baby wipes and baby bottles all need to be brand new and unopened. A great way to contribute to our charity is to purchase and donate these items. If you are in a position to be able to so, please see our full list of accepted items here: Accepted Donations | Baby Basics

Donating financially

Regular or one-off
