Baby Basics Doncaster
Baby Basics Doncaster provides Moses basket starter packs, including toiletries, clothes and other essentials for babies 0-3mths. We also provide other equipment such as prams, baths, baby bouncers, sterilisers etc when available. We are currently part of the Safe Space to Sleep project and provide cots, cot beds and toddler beds for children aged 0-5yrs.
About Us
We work closely with many referral agencies such as midwives, family hubs worker, social workers, and other charities to provide a safe, reliable service that people can trust.
We are located at SMC (Sprotbrough Methodist Church), Park Drive, Sprotbrough. ///signs.riper.phantom. On street parking available.
We are open Wednesday (term time) 10-12 for donations and referral collections, or email babybasics@s-m-c.co.uk to arrange an appointment.

Get Help
Families
We work by professional referrals only.
We take referrals from any organisation working with families, including midwives, health visitors, local council, charities, community organisations and schools.
Do you live in Doncaster, are pregnant and need support providing for your newborn? We can help. Please talk to you community midwife, health visitor, family hub, social care professional or any professional who is supporting you. They will be able to make a referral on your behalf. We do not accept self referrals or referrals from family or friends.
If you are unsure how to access the help you need please make comtact with your local family hub.
Make a Referral
To make a referral simply send an email from your work email address to babybasics@s-m-c.co.uk. Please include the following details in your email:
- Name or initials of mum or family name
- Post code
- Expected Delivery Date (EDD)
- Items you require ie Moses basket starter pack
Important Notes:
- The email must come from your official work email address to ensure the validity of the request.
- Please ensure that the email is sent at the earliest opportunity. This will allow us to prepare the items for collection at least one month before the Expected Delivery Date (EDD).
- We provide items for babies 0-3mths old. If you require specific items, please ask and I will get back to you to let you know if we can provide these items.
- You will receive a email to confirm that the referral has been placed. If this does not happen, please wait a few days and get back in touch
By following these steps, we can ensure a smooth and timely collection process.

Please note for SStS referrals please follow the same process outlined above by emailing with your requirements. Please note there is currently a 4 week waiting time.
Give Help
Donating secondhand items
We love to pass on high quality second hand items whenever possible. We ask that all items are washed before being brought to us.
* we cannot take clothes with familial names, Christmas, or camo inspired patterns.
Donating equipment
We are limited in storage space so please keep up to date with our latest requirements via facebook. For larger items please check with us by emailing babybasics@s-m-c.co.uk before you come.
We cannot accept any items that are broken, missing, parts or need excessive cleaning.
We do not accept next-to-me cribs, swinging cribs, travel cots, car seat, strollers, jumparoos and sit in walkers.

How can you get involved?
- Sewing – We often need large tote bags making which we give out to families with each Moses basket starter pack.
- Knitting – We love giving out knitted items. We have specific requirements for what we are able to accept so please get in touch.
- Fundraising – We support anyone who would like to fundraise for us. If you are part of another group or organisation who raises money for local charities we would love you to get in touch.
