Vale Baby Basics
Vale Baby Basics provides a Moses Basket filled with clothes (up to age 6 months), toiletries, books and a toy for a new-born born baby as well as toiletries for Mum. We also provide (when available) other essentials such as bouncy chairs, baby baths, cots (with mattress), highchairs, prams, buggies and pushchairs for children and families across the Vale of Glamorgan.
About Us
We work closely with local agencies including Midwives, Health Visitors, Social Care and other professionals and other Charities to provide a safe reliable service people can trust.
We are based in Unit 2 Thompson Street Barry Vale of Glamorgan CF63 4JL.
Our opening hours are:
Monday 10.30-12.00
Tuesday 10.00-11.30
Friday 10.30-12.00
During these times we are able to take donations.
Meet the Team
As well as a Co-ordinator we have a small team of 4 volunteers who help with sorting donations, ironing, washing and packing Moses Baskets and Baby bundles.
Our volunteers are: Mary, Sarry, Helen and Lizzie. Without our Volunteers it would be very difficult to manage everything that we do.
Get Help
We work by referral from Professionals only.
We take referrals from any Organisation working with new Mum’s and families, including Midwives, Health Visitors, Local Council staff, Charity Organisations, other Health and Social Care Professionals, Church and Community Organisations.
Families
We support new Mums and babies up to the age of 6 months with our Moses basket starter packs and basic essentials and children up to the age of 3 years with other equipment such as buggies, pushchairs and highchairs (subject to availability).
If you live in the Vale of Glamorgan and feel you need help please contact your Midwife, Health Visitor, Social Care Professional, Charity or Community Organisation that is supporting you.
They can then refer to us – we do not accept self referrals.
Make a Referral
We try to complete all referrals between 6- 8 weeks before the due date when ever possible unless its an urgent referral when we will complete as soon as we can. We will contact the referrer when the referral is completed and ready for collection. It must be collected by yourself or by someone else from your Organisation. We do not allow families to collect in person for themselves.
We can take more than 1 referral for a family of you feel we can still help with items. If we don’t have the requested items in stock we can appeal for them via our Facebook page or direct you to places that may be able to help.

Give Help
Donating secondhand items
We can take the following second hand items but please ensure they are clean and of a good quality with no missing or broken parts.
Moses baskets with or without stands but not the mattress (we have to dispose of these if left in the baskets).
Moses basket sheets and blankets
Baby clothes up to the age of 6 months
Toys for new born baby
We cannot take any electrical items or items with missing or broken parts. We DO NOT accept car seats, travel cots, jumperoos, sit-in walkers or swinging cots
Donating equipment
All equipment needs to be in good working order with no missing parts, clean and with a harness where necessary.
We can take the following:
Baby baths
Bouncy chairs
Playmats/gyms
Highchairs
Cots (without mattress)
Prams, buggies & pushchairs
Please contact us first to check if we can take these items as we have limited storage space.
Donating new items
We are more than happy to take donations of any new items of baby clothing or equipment.
Toiletries for baby ( baby bath, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste & toothbrush, soap)
Toiletries and other essentials for Mum (shampoo & conditioner, shower gel, soap, deodorant, breast pads, maternity pads)
Toys for new-born (up to age 6 months)
Size 1 & size 2 nappies (unopened packs)
