Baby Basics Brighton

Hi, welcome to Baby Basics Brighton!

We’re so glad you stopped by. Whether you need support or want to volunteer, you’re in the right place! We work with local midwives, health visitors, and agencies to provide essential baby items for families facing hardship. Every Moses basket, every donation, and every act of kindness helps ensure no mother feels alone.

Take a look around to see how we can help—or how you can get involved!

About Us

Working closely with midwives, health visitors, and local agencies, we provide essential support for new mothers facing hardship of any kind—teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence or trafficking.

Our Moses baskets offer a safe place for babies to sleep and are packed with nappies, wipes, maternity pads, blankets, towels, and baby clothes—sometimes the only items these families have at a vulnerable time. Many of the women we help have no support network, so the care and kindness behind every donated and handmade item mean the world.

Inspired by Matthew 25:40 – ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ – we believe in showing God’s love through practical care for the most vulnerable. We seek to be embedded in our city’s support network; we are here to serve and to ensure every mother in crisis knows she is seen, valued, and not alone.

Families

Requesting a Moses Basket Starter Pack from Baby Basics Brighton

Baby Basics Brighton provides essential baby items, clothing, and toiletries free of charge to families experiencing hardship. To ensure we reach those most in need, requests must come from a professional supporting the family, rather than directly from individuals.

If you know a family who could benefit, here’s what to do:

  1. Ask the family if they would like to receive support from Baby Basics Brighton.
  2. Contact our team to make the referral using the form which can be downloaded here.
  3. Provide the following details:
    • Your details: Name, agency, and contact information.
    • Family’s details: Name, baby’s due date, and gender (if known).
    • Additional information: Anything else that might help us support them better.

We’ll arrange a collection date with you, and items will need to be delivered to the family by the referrer or another professional, as we are unable to offer a delivery service.

Where possible, we aim to have the pack ready at least 8 weeks before the baby is due so the family has time to prepare. Early referrals are greatly appreciated!
