About Us
We are a team of 8 volunteers working closely with referral agencies including midwives, health visitors, social care and other charities to provide practical support to families.
Our volunteers spend their time sorting donations, cleaning and checking equipment, packing our lovely Moses basket starter packs and so much more.
Collections and donations are by appointment only.

Families
We work by professional referral only.
We take referrals from any organisation working with families including midwives, health visitors, local council, housing, charities, churches and community organisations.
We typically support families with children from pre-birth up to 1 year.
Do you live in Chesterfield, have a child pre-birth to 1 year and need help with items for your family? We can help. Please talk to your midwife, health visitor or social care professional or a charity or community organisation that is supporting you. They will be able to make a referral on your behalf. We do no accept self referrals.
Make a Referral
To make a referral, please email us at babybasics.chesterfield@gmail.com
It must be yourself or someone from your organisation that collects the referral. We do not allow families to collect their own items.
There is no limit to the number of times a family can be referred to us if you assess that they still need support.

How can you get involved?
- Volunteering – we are always ready to welcome new volunteers to join our lovely team.
- Knitting – we love giving out knitted items. We have specific requirements for what we are able to accept, so please get in touch.
Some of our volunteers commit to spending 2 hours every week in our building, making up referrals, sorting donations and safety checking equipment. Whereas other volunteers collect a bag of clothes to iron at home. Volunteering with us can be as much or as little as you are able to do.
