Nottingham – Baby Basics

Baby Basics Nottingham

Baby Basics Nottingham is a volunteer-led charity based out of St Mark’s Church in Woodthorpe, Nottingham.

We are dedicated to supporting new parents and newborns in vulnerable situations. The charity provides moses baskets filled with essential items to mothers and families who are struggling to cope with the financial and practical challenges of caring for a new baby.

Working with midwives, health visitors and other professional groups to provide support directly where it is most needed, Baby Basics Nottingham volunteers lovingly collect, sort and package up moses baskets of clothing, toiletries and essential baby equipment.

We rely on donations of pre-loved, good condition baby items including clothes up to 3 months in age, towels, bedding, new and unopened toiletries such as breast pads, toothbrushes, shampoo and nappies etc.

About Us

Baby Basics Nottingham was set up within St Mark’s church in Woodthorpe Nottingham, in 2025, giving out our first moses baskets in January 2026.  We have since supported more than tbc families.

We support new parents who are struggling due to a variety of reasons including financial hardship, housing issues, isolation, refugee status and domestic violence situations.

We do not want any parent or newborn baby to be put at risk due to personal circumstances. We act as a safety net for those families.

Highlights

January 2026 we gave out our first moses baskets, filled with clothing, toiletries and baby essentials.

Donating secondhand items

Baby Basics Nottingham could not send out the starter packs without the support of the local community. Many of the items we put into our starter packs are pre-loved items passed on from families whose babies have outgrown them.

We accept second-hand baby clothing, coats, snowsuits, blankets and soft toys in used but great condition.

Items can be dropped off at St Mark’s Church, De Vere Gardens, Woodthorpe, Nottingham NG5 4PH

Donating new items

Many of the items that go into our starter packs must, for sanitary reasons, be brand new. Toiletries for baby, toiletries for mum, nappies and baby wipes. All items  need to be brand new and unopened.

  • First Size Nappies
  • Baby Wipes
  • Maternity Pads
  • Baby Shampoo, Wash & Lotion
  • Adult Shampoo & Shower Gel
  • Toothbrush & Paste
  • Towels
  • Blankets
  • Newborn Clothing

A great way to contribute to our charity is to purchase and donate these items.
