Centrica have a long-standing partnership with Baby Basics UK, providing regular volunteering at local centres and through donations of essential products. In late 2024, Centrica approached us to ask how they could continue to support our centres, and after some discussion, it was decided that they would donate essential mum and baby packs to our centres. Rather than simply sending this donation to our National Warehouse, they decided to go one step further and drafted in their offshore crew! The crew onboard the rig, were desperate to be involved in the donation and spent their downtime putting the packs together. These packs include all of the essential items that mum and baby need for the first few days of life, and have been lovingly put in to changing bags, meaning the donation will last for years to come.
On Wednesday 19th March, Beau and Clare from Centrica visited our National Warehouse to meet with the team and bring in the donations. They learnt about the work we do, the products we distribute and why we are so keen to ensure centres receive new stock along with second hand donations.
We are so thankful to Centrica for putting together these incredible packs, providing 29 mums with all of the essentials they need.
Building on this commitment to supporting families in need, Centrica colleagues also dedicate their time and skills through corporate volunteering, working closely with Baby Basics centres across the UK to make a meaningful difference in local communities. In partnership with Centrica’s Working Parents Network, our centres in Leicester, Guildford, and Sunbury have benefitted from over 50 hours of volunteering since Summer ’24.
Laura, centre lead at Leicester Baby Basics, shared, “We have always had friendly and reliable volunteers who are eager to assist with any tasks. As a busy centre, additional help with sorting donations enables us to keep up with the demand for our services. It also raises awareness of Baby Basics within their communities, and many volunteers generously donate items from our wish lists.”
A recent volunteer at Baby Basics Leicester reflected, “The team was welcoming and took the time to explain more about the organisation and its work. My key takeaway from the day is how incredibly valued and worthwhile this organisation is. It made me think deeply about those in need and how grateful I am for my own family. I want to extend my thanks to everyone involved for making this such a rewarding experience.”
We warmly invite other corporate organisations to collaborate with us and discover the rewarding experience of working together to make a meaningful difference in communities, while enhancing employee engagement and fulfilment.
