Today we are launching our first sponsored read campaign in partnership with Usborne.
To raise funds and awareness for our essential work, we are running a community-sponsored read. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading while making a real difference in the lives of others.
Here’s how it works:
- Participants of all ages are encouraged to spend a small amount of time each day reading – whether it’s books, comics, magazines, poems, recipes, or even instructions!
- Friends, family, and community members can sponsor this reading effort, with all proceeds going directly to Baby Basics UK.
- These funds will be used to provide books to the families we support.
We’ve partnered with Grace McSharry (The Book Nook – in Partnership with Usborne), who will generously donate 10% extra in free books based on the total amount raised. These books will be donated to families across the UK, spreading the joy of reading even further.
Our fundraising goal is £2,000, which would give us an additional £200 worth of books – a total of £2,200 in life-changing resources.
If you’d like to get involved:
- You can sponsor a reader, donate directly, or even take part yourself! The sponsored read will be open until Friday 19th December 2025.
- Donations can be made via Grace’s JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/thebooknook-babybasics
- Reading logs and sponsorship forms are available for those who wish to track their progress.
- If you have any questions about this campaign at all, please contact Elaine McKenna on elaine.mckenna@baby-basics.org.uk
Every pound raised will help support new mums and babies at a time when they need it most.
Thank you for helping us bring comfort, dignity, and hope to families in need.
